Day 1: Australia –– Johannesburg
Depart Australia today to begin your private Africa safari!
Day 2: Johannesburg –– Victoria Falls
Arrive in Johannesburg and take your connecting flight to Victoria Falls. You will be met by a representative of Private Safaris for the transfer to your hotel, Victoria Falls Safari Club. The luxury resort is a place where African history and the enchanting power of nature blend with exotic modern comforts.
Later this evening, depart on a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River, a perfect way to unwind after your flight. You will have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife on the river cruise as you enjoy light snacks, local beer and wine.
Additional services at Victoria Falls Safari Club include afternoon tea and pastries, Sundowner Drinks, Boma Dinner, laundry service and free Wi-Fi.
Day 3: Victoria Falls (B,D)
Embark on a tour of the Falls this morning and discover how they were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them. The tour ends with a visit to the local art and crafts centre. Your package price includes National Park fees, the services of a qualified tour guide and bottled mineral water.
Later this evening, you will be transferred to a unique Boma Dinner and drumming show, a legendary dining and entertainment experience for your senses.
Optional tour (at your own expense): You may wish to consider a helicopter flight over the Falls, granting you access to uninterrupted views of the dramatic landscapes.
Day 4: Victoria Falls – Chobe River (B,L,D)
After breakfast, depart Victoria Falls Safari Club to Kasane Immigration to experience your water-based safari adventure on the Chobe Princess River Cruise. The drive is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. On arrival you will be met by a representative of Chobe Princess for your transfer to the cruise vessel. Enjoy a hearty lunch, followed by snacks in the late afternoon and a brief induction.
In the evening, enjoy pre-dinner drinks followed by a 3- course dinner to round off the day.
Day 5: Chobe River (B,L,D)
The morning is spent at your leisure. Explore the spectacular Chobe River on a tender boat with an experienced guide, getting close to the wildlife and birdlife of the area. For the adventurous, try your hand at tiger fishing. Enjoy a buffet lunch and take in the wonders of the beautiful Chobe River as you enjoy a leisurely cruise.
Day 6: Chobe River – Kruger National Park (B,D)
After an early morning breakfast, take a transfer to Livingstone airport for your flight to the Kruger National Park. You will be met by a representative of Maqueda Lodge at Nelspruit Airport who will arrange your transport to the lodge. Spend the afternoon at your leisure before ending the day with sumptuous 3-course dinner.
Day 7: Chobe River – Kruger National Park (B,D)
Today, start with an early morning game drive in the Kruger National Park. Ensure you bring your camera along as you will be spotting the BIG 5 in their natural environment. The abundance of species you will see will be an experience of a lifetime. Get up close to the animals in your specialised safari vehicle lead by an expert guide. The game drive is approximately 6-8 hours.
Day 8: Kruger National Park (B,D)
Rise early again today for your second game drive in the Kruger National Park – you might spot animals you missed on the first game drive and encounter different experiences.
Day 9: Kruger National Park (B,D)
Today is a free day. After breakfast, you may simply wish to relax and unwind from the previous days safaris or partake in optional excursions to Swaziland or panoramic landscapes.
Optional tour (at your own expense): You may want to consider an optional Swaziland day tour at your own expense. After an early breakfast, you will visit a Swazi Village and gain insight to the Swazi culture and traditions. The tour includes an authentic African lunch, dancing and an opportunity to interact with the local community.
Optional tour (at your own expense): Panoramic Tour – Rise early for one of the most scenic tours in South Africa. The tour explores the North Eastern escarpment of the Drakensberg and includes a visit to Blyde River Canyon, Gods Window and Bourkes Potholes which is a geological phenomenon.
Day 10: Kruger National Park –airplane-takeoff– Johannesburg – Pretoria (B)
After breakfast you will be transferred to Nelspruit Airport for your onward flight to Johannesburg. On arrival at Johannesburg Airport, you will be met by a representative of Webjet for your transfer to your hotel in Pretoria for your overnight stay. After check in, relax and enjoy the day at your leisure.
Day 11: Pretoria – Blue Train (B,L,D)
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Pretoria Train Station for your Southbound journey to Cape Town on the world famous Blue Train! Upon boarding, step into a world of luxury. Be greeted with pre-departure snacks and drinks and settle into your luxurious suite. Kings and presidents have indulged on this magnificent, moving five star “hotel-on-wheels”. From love-struck honeymooners, to adulated celebrities. And even ordinary folk who romanticise about a life of spectacular luxury, a life that has seemed tantalisingly out of reach.
Day 12: Blue Train – (B,L,D)
Wake this morning in your luxurious train suite as the train continues its journey across South Africa, enjoy an off train tour to the Kimberley Big Hole, claimed to be the largest hole excavated by hand. Here, learn about the history of Diamond mining in this region. Upon re-boarding the train, be greeting with a glass of sherry before dinner is served in the dining car. Dinner is an elegant affair – men are requested to wear a jacket and ladies elegant evening wear. Enjoy post dinner drinks in the Club Bar before retiring to bed.
Day 13: Blue Train – Cape Town (B)
Wake this morning in your luxurious train suite as the train continues its journey across South Africa. After breakfast, chose to either relax in your suite or in the comfort of the elegant lounge with large viewing windows. On arrival you will be assisted off the train and met at Cape Town Station and transferred to your Cape Town hotel. After check in enjoy the rest of the evening at your leisure.
Day 14: Cape Town (B)
After breakfast you will be collected at your hotel for a 45 minute tour of Afrogem, one of the leading jewellery manufactures in South Africa. You will have firsthand experience of how smelted gold is transformed and watch the craftsman set gems and semi-precious stones in the creation of jewellery. After, enjoy a trip up the cable car to the top of Table Mountain for some exquisite views of Cape Town! When you’re ready, make your own way back to your hotel where the rest of the day is yours at leisure. Taxi’s are available at the Cable Car Station for your transfer back to your hotel.
Day 15: Cape Town (B)
Today is a free day. You may wish to partake in one of the following optional excursions.
Optional tour (at your own expense): Robben Island – Enjoy a ferry ride and tour of Robben Island of the coast of Cape Town where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.
Optional tour (at your own expense): Wineland tour – Franschoek. After breakfast, you will be collected at your hotel for a Wine Tram excursion tour in Franschoek. Enjoy some wine tasting, buy some excellent Cape wines, enjoy a cellar tour or lunch. Later that afternoon you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 16: Cape Town (B)
Bring your camera for a full day Cape Peninsula tour! We are heading for Cape Point at the south western tip of the Cape Peninsula with the most spectacular views in the world. The tour begins with a scenic drive along the Atlantic Coast, passing through Camps Bay and the fishing village of Hout Bay. The trip continues to Cape Point Nature Reserve, comprising of 17,300 acres of indigenous flora and fauna. Here you can see a variety of wildlife which includes baboons, rheebok and the elusive eland. Witness the union of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. On route back to your hotel we also visit the penguin colony at the Boulders Beach (entry on your own account). The last stop is at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens for a short walk through the beautiful gardens.
Day 17: Cape Town –– Australia (B)
After breakfast and check out from your hotel, you will be privately transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your flight back to Australia.
