Day 1: Australia –– Kathmandu
Today, depart Australia for Kathmandu, Nepal!
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your lodge in the heart of the ancient city of Patan, for check-in.
Day 2: Kathmandu (4,593ft/1400m) (B,D)
Spend the day exploring the Kathmandu Valley. Shake the jetlag with a visit to Swayambhunath, the “Monkey Temple”. Take in the views of the city from atop one of the most important Buddhist stupas in Nepal. Return around 1pm to spend the afternoon exploring the city on your own. In the evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome dinner.
Day 3: Kathmandu – Syabru Besi (4,790ft/1460m) (B,L,D)
Travel by private jeep or van to the trailhead of the Langtang region. The 6-7 hour ride is worth the beautiful views.
Day 4: Syabru Besi – Lama Hotel (8,399ft/2560m) (B,L,D)
Begin your ascent up to the village of Khangjim and Sherpagaun village (approx. 3 hours). Stop for lunch and take in the spectacular views. Continue your hike up to the village of Lama Hotel (approx. 3-4 hours). Total distance: 9 miles (approx. 15km). Trekking time: approx. 6 – 7 hours.
Day 5: Lama Hotel – Langtang Village (11,335ft/3455m) (B,L,D)
Begin your day with a gentle ascent but the trail gets steeper as the trek progresses. Climb through forests of rhododendron, maple, and oak. Upon arrival to Langtang Village, you are greeted with fluttering prayer flags, Tibetan style architecture, mani stone walls, roaming yaks and golden barley fields. Total distance: 7 miles (approx. 11 km). Trekking time: approx. 5 hours.
Day 6: Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gumpa (12,522ft/3817m) (B,L,D)
The trail wanders through Langtang Village before making a gentle ascent past the pocket of Tamang settlements and yak pastures. After three hours of walking, reach Kyanjin Gumpa, a centuries old monastery. Enjoy the entire afternoon to acclimatize and explore the surroundings. For a special treat, check out the yak cheese production center just north of Hotel Yala Peak.Total distance: 4 miles (approx. 6km). Trekking time: approx. 3 hours.
Day 7: Kyanjin Gumpa (12,522ft/3817m) (B,L,D)
Enjoy a rest day or take an optional 3 hour hike up to Kyanjin Ri, where hundreds of prayer flags adorn the mountain top.
Day 8: Kyanjin Gumpa – Lama Hotel (8,189ft/2496m) (B,L,D)
Begin your descent to the village Lama Hotel, passing through scattered forests and along the flowing creeks and streams of the valley. Total distance: 11 miles (approx. 18km). Trekking time: approx. 5-7 hours.
Day 9: Lama Hotel – Syabru Besi (4,790ft/1460m) (B,L,D)
Enjoy your final day in the mountains! Head back to Syabru Besi via Wangel. From the trail, take in views of the surrounding hills. Enjoy a relaxing evening in Syabru Besi with a cup of tea and a hot shower. Total distance: 9 miles (approx. 15km). Trekking time: approx. 5-7 hours.
Day 10: Syabru Besi – Kathmandu (4,593ft/1400m) (B,L,D)
Take a private jeep or private bus back to the capital. Join your fellow expedition members for a farewell dinner and plenty of toasting.
Day 11: Kathmandu –– Australia (B)
At the appropriate time you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
Day 12: Australia
