Highlights

Follow in the footsteps of ancient Pharaohs, Lawrence of Arabia and biblical figures on a 25 day Grand Arabia tour

Your incredible adventure through Arabia begins in the Egyptian capital of Cairo. Have your ‘pinching’ pose at the ready for when you visit the Great Pyramids of Giza and the graceful Sphinx and learn more about the extraordinary ancient history by wandering between displays and artefacts at the acclaimed Egyptian Museum. Journey to Luxor aboard an overnight sleeper train and step onto an opulent cruise ship that will ferry you along the iconic Nile river for 4 nights. This voyage includes stops at the Valley of the Kings, Edfu, Aswan and Abu Simbel. Return to dry land and spend time in both Alexandria and El Alamein.

Board a flight to Jordan – one of the world’s trending travel destinations – and touch down in Amman. Walk the grand streets of Jerash and count off its Greco-Roman ruins before slipping off your shoes and wading into the infamously salty waters of the Dead Sea. Venture into the untamed wilds of Wadi Rum by jeep and make for a Bedouin camp where you’ll spend the night sleeping beneath the stars. Feel your jaw drop as you follow the Siq and round the corner to the entrance at Petra, the once-lost city of the Nabateans. Be shown Petra’s network of rock-carved dwellings and tombs and then return the following morning to admire its beauty in a different light.

Cross into the Holy Land to tour Israel from Jericho to Nazareth and Acre. Visit some of Jerusalem’s most sacred sites including Mount of Olives, the Church of All Nations and Lions’ Gate. Be shown Jericho on an orientation tour and journey across the Judean Desert on a guided experience to Masada and Qumran

Travellers will have a chance to get up close to these wonders and, for a small fee, can head inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu (or Cheops). It is then onto the Egyptian Museum to wander between galleries and exhibits that showcase an incredible collection of antiquities, artefacts and local treasures. There is some free time before a transfer takes you to the railway station, where you board an overnight sleeper train bound for Luxor.

The train rolls into Luxor in the early morning and an airline-style breakfast is served in your cabin. Discover Luxor today. Day 8: Aswan – Abu Simbel – Aswan (B)

Disembark from the cruise this morning and hop onto a private coach for a trip to the Abu Simbel temples. One of the most recognisable features of this site is the set of four statues of Ramses that guard the entrance to the Great Temple. Make for Wadi Rum today. This wild landscape is all sandstone mountains, desolate desert and wind-eroded rock formations. At this enchanted site, silence will gain a new meaning for you. A night under the starlit desert sky will undoubtedly be the right cure to relax any strained nerves.

Day 16: Wadi Rum – Petra (B,D)

Accommodation: Petra Moon hotel (or similar)

Just 92 metres from the entrance gate to Petra, this hotel features spacious rooms and a roof garden with seasonal outdoor pool.

Day 17: Petra (B,D)

Petra is arguably the symbol of Jordan. It is, after all, called the ‘Jewel of Jordan’ and features on many visitors’ must-visit lists. The lost city of the biblical Nabateans was only rediscovered in 1812 and is made up of dwellings hidden by intricately carved facades. Feel your jaw drop as you round the passageway and catch the first glimpse of the Treasury and follow your guide as you uncover Petra’s other pearls: the Monastery, amphitheatre and tombs. Spend the rest of the day discovering Petra at your leisure.

Day 18: Petra – Amman (B)

Such is Petra’s power that is deserves more than one visit. So, head back in the early morning to walk to the High Place of Sacrifice and see the old-world Crusader castle at Shobak.
