Day 1: Australia – – Rome
Today’s the day you depart for you incredible 15 day Best of Italy tour. Head to the airport and board your flight bound of Rome.

Day 2: Rome (D)
On arrival in Rome, be collected by your group airport transfer and taken to your hotel. Tonight you’ll meet your fellow travellers and enjoy a Welcome Reception which includes an evening orientation drive of this gorgeous capital city.
Day 3: Rome (B)
Get set for a day of culture and history as you set out for a tour of Rome. First stop is Vatican City where you’ll be guided by a Local Specialist for in-depth sightseeing tour of the Vatican Museums. Don’t forget to look up at the ceiling as you wander through the Sistine Chapel and admire Michelangelo’s iconic artwork. Wander through St. Peter’s Basilica, before heading to visit the impressive Colosseum and Circus Maximus. Once a lively site that played host to thrilling chariot races, the monument is now one of the most famous sites of ancient Rome. The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure. Perhaps make your way to the Spanish Steps, or toss a coin into the magnificent Trevi Fountain, the choice is yours!

Day 4: Rome – Pompeii – Sorrento (B, D)
After breakfast this morning, the tour heads south to the ancient ruins of Pompeii. Be guided by a Local Specialist around what remains of this city, devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. Frozen in time, Pompeii is a great insight into the way life was in ancient Italy all those years ago. Head to the clifftop village of Sorrento to check-in to your hotel, before enjoying dinner with your fellow travellers later tonight.
Optional: Amalfi Coast and Positano. Embark on a drive along the sensational Amalfi Coast, making stops in gorgeous Positano. Additional cost applies.
Day 5: Isle of Capri (B)
Catch a ferry this morning to cross the Bay of Naples on your way to the magnificent Isle of Capri. You’ll be guided by a Local Specialist around the iconic sights of stunning Capri Town, before spending the afternoon soaking up the magic of island by yourself. Be sure to visit one of the ancient Villas that are situated on the island, or head out on a tour of some of the gorgeous grottoes that line their way along the cliffs of Capri. Return to Sorrento later tonight.
Optional: Neopolitan Dinner and Dance. Indulge in an evening of Neopolitan cuisine at a local family-run restaurant. Be entertained as you see the famous Tarantella dance performed and you enjoy this truly incredible cultural experience. Additional cost applies.
Optional: Discover The Isle of Capri. Head out on the blue-waters of Capri to discover its spectacular grottoes and landscapes by boat. Afterwards, enjoy the local speciality, a delicious lemon Granita. If weather doesn’t permit a boat tour, a mini bus will be taken around the island to visit Anacapri and Villa San Michele. Additional cost applies.
Optional: Sorrento Farmhouse Dinner. Explore the lush Sorrento countryside on a scenic drive. Visit an 18th century Olive Oil mill, before enjoying a traditional pizza and local wine for dinner. Additional cost applies.
Day 6: Sorrento – Cassino – Assisi (B, D)
Head for Cassino today, where you’ll visit the Commonwealth War Cementery, the final resting place for many of the Italian soldiers who fought in World War II. It’s then on to the Benedictine Abbey, before journeying through Mount Subasio on your way to the town of Assisi. The birthplace of St. Francis, you’ll embark on a guided tour of this medieval city with one of our Local Specialist’s, visiting the famous Basilica of St. Francis. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore the town however you please.
Day 7: Assisi – Verona – Venice (B)
Travel through the spectacular landscapes of the Emilia Romagna region, home to the creation of delicious delicacies including parmesan cheese, tortellini and mortadella. Arrive in Verona, the iconic home for Shakespeare’s two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Wander through the cobble-stoned streets, visiting Juliet’s famed balcony, before heading to the floating city of Venice where you’ll spend the next 2 nights.
Optional: Gondolas and the Grand Canal. Visit the sites of Venice including the Rialto Bridge, St. Mark’s Square and the palazzi, on a private water taxi through the Grand Canal. It’s then time to hop on-board an iconic gondola for a cruise through the narrow waterways. Additional cost applies.
Day 8: Venice (B)
A private launch ferries the group around Venice’s warren of twisting and turning canals. Watch talented artisans use centuries-old traditions to blow glass on the island of Giudecca, and then move to the realm of St. Mark to marvel at the sprawling square and the Basilica. A meander past the opulent Doge’s Palace and the Bridge of Sighs is also included in your discovery of the city. The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure.
Optional: Venice’s Secrets and St. Mark’s Basilica. Enjoy a guided tour by a Local Specialist of all the hidden gems that are spread throughout this stunning city, before stopping by St. Mark’s Basilica. Additional cost applies.
Optional: Lagoon cruise to Burano with food and drinks. Head out via boat to discover the Venetian Lagoon. Enjoy a delicious meal on Burano, iconic for its quaint multi-coloured houses. Additional cost applies.
Day 9: Venice – Milan – Lake Maggiore (B, D)
Today see’s the tour cross the landscapes of Lombardy to arrive in Italy’s fashion capital of Milan. Depart on an orientation tour around the city, visiting the famous sites of La Scala Opera House, Gothic Duomo and Galleria. It’s then on to gorgeous Lake Maggiore, where you’ll enjoy dinner at your hotel later tonight.
Optional: Treasures of Milan. Embark on an in-depth tour of some of Milan’s famed locations, guided by a Local Specialist who will educate you on the city’s rich history. Additional cost applies.
Day 10: Lake Como (B, D)
The blue waters of Lake Como beckon. Enjoy free time immersing yourself in the upmarket lakefront lifestyle of this stunning area. The rest of the day can be spent exploring the quaint towns throughout the region, stopping to savour a scoop or two of gelato. Ride in the funicular for a sweeping view of the lake, before travelling this evening via private boat to an island on Lake Maggiore for a Be My Guest dinner experience.
Optional: Discover Lake Como. Adventure to some of the most beautiful spots along Lake Como, guided by a Local Specialist. Additional cost applies.
Optional: Discover the Borromean Islands. A private launch takes travellers to the beautiful islands of Lake Maggiore. Among the isles is Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella. Day 11: Lake Maggiore – Pisa – Florence (B)
Move into Tuscan territory today. Pass through the forested Apennine Mountains and Genoa for a stop in Pisa. Have your pose at the ready to take a photograph with the city’s famous Leaning Tower, located in the paved Square of Miracles. It is then a short journey from Pisa to Florence, the birthplace and heart of the Renaissance. The evening is yours to begin your discovery of this magnificent city.
Optional: Dinner, Wine and Music in the Tuscan Hills. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Tuscan countryside, before indulging in a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Additional cost applies.
Optional: Tuscan Dinner at Villa Machiavelli. Experience the magic of the Chianti hills, driving past vineyards and fields. This evening’s destination is the former stone house of Niccolo Machiavelli; the location where he wrote his breakthrough work, ‘The Prince’. A welcome drink and tour through the villa and its wine cellar follows. Then feast on fine Tuscan cuisine, accompanied by music, drinks, and Chianti made from the villa’s vines. Day 12: Florence (B)
Delve into a world of Medici legacy, world-shaping art movements and fascinating history in a guided tour of Florence. Gaze upwards to take in the elegant glory of the Duomo, make note of the statues scattered around the different Piazzi, look into the windows of the jewellers lining Ponte Vecchio, and soak in the amazing outlook of Florence’s skyline from Piazzale Michelangelo. Sweet tooths will want to sample the rich hot chocolate for which Florence is renowned. Also learn about two of the city’s most important industries – leather and gold – in demonstrations. The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure.
Optional: Michelangelo’s ‘David’ and Accademia. Visit the Academy of Fine Arts and immerse yourself in the brilliance of Michelangelo’s incredible art. See the iconic statue of David and learn about the life and history of his works. Additional cost applies.
Day 13: Florence – San Gimignano – Rome (B, D)
Depart Florence for San Gimignano, a gorgeous Tuscan town perched on a hill. Inside the town’s colourful walls are excellent examples of medieval architecture and history. Piazza del Duomo in the town centre is surrounded by thousand-year old towers, and the town’s encircling, 13th century walls offer multiple vantage points for taking in the countryscape. It is then onto Rome for this evening’s farewell dinner.
Day 14: Rome – – Australia (B)
Sadly, your incredible Italian adventure has come to an end. It’s time to head to the airport and board your flight home.
