(Please note: Some flight may depart 1 day later)

Day 2: Tehran

Welcome to Iran! You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After check-in enjoy some free time.

Exploring this fascinating metropolis will transport you on a journey through more than 2500 years of Iranian history – from the glittering Golestan Palace and the adjacent Grand Bazaar to the beautiful Azadi Tower and the notorious former US embassy. Then there are the city’s many excellent museums and serene gardens. In such places, as well as in contemporary cafes, traditional teahouses and on the walking trails in the mountains, you can relax and enjoy all that’s good about Tehran.

Day 3: Tehran – airplane-takeoff – Shiraz (B)

This morning we take an early morning flight to Shiraz in the south of Iran. On arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Later, we head out to explore the Vakil Complex.  Vakil is one of the most traditional and historical Iran markets, in city of Shiraz. The market was built on the orders of Karim Khan Zand and is located in the centre of the city. Other places such as mosque and historic bath also have been located next to the bazaar. This market is the best remaining works of Karim Khan Zand that is still in operation. We then continue on to Saadi’s tomb. This Iranian poet is a globally known scholar whose words have touched many hearts across the world and wakened up many minds to take new steps in their lives to reach higher levels of humanity.

Day 4: Shiraz (B)

Today, head out on a full day tour of Shiraz. We begin with the Nasirolmolk Mosque, this mosque is one of the most elegant mosques in south of Iran. Built relatively recently, at the end of the 19th century, its colored tilings (an unusually deep shade of blue) are exquisite. There is some particularly fine stalactite moulding in the smallish outer portal and in the northern iwan, but it is the stunning stained glass and exquisitely carved pillars of the winter prayer hall that are most eye-catching. Continuing on to Eram Gardens, Eram Garden is a historic Persian garden in Shiraz before visiting the Citadel of Karimkhan Zand, located in the downtown Shiraz. It was built as part of a complex during the Zand dynasty and is named after Karim Khan, and served as his living quarters. In shape it resembles a medieval fortress. Finally, we finish with the Tomb of Hafiz. There is no better place to understand Hafez’s place in the nation’s psyche than at his tomb and the memorial garden within which it is set. Iranians have a saying that every home must have two things: first the Quran, then a collection of the works of Hafez.

Day 5: Shiraz – Isfahan (B)

After breakfast we begin our drive to Isfahan. Enroute, visiting Persepolis, a UNESCO World Heritage site from 518 BC. Persepolis, whose magnificent ruins rest at the foot of Kuh-e Rahmat (Mountain of Mercy) in south-western Iran, is among the world’s greatest archaeological sites. Persepolis was the seat of government of the Achaemenid Empire, though it was designed primarily to be a showplace and spectacular centre for the receptions and festivals of the kings and their empire. After, we continue our drive, stopping at the ruins of Naqsh-e-Rustam. Naqsh-e Rustam is one of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring ancient sites of the Achaemenid Empire, consisting of the colossal tombs of Persian kings dating back to the first millennium BC.  It stands as a lasting memory of a once powerful empire that ruled over a significant portion of the ancient world. After, we arrive in Isfahan for our overnight.

Day 6: Isfahan (B)

Today enjoy a full day tour of Isfahan, including Ali Qapu Palace Pavilion, Sheikh Lutfullah Mosque, Abbasi (Imam) Mosque, and the Entrance to Qayssarieh Bazaar. One of today’s highlights is the Great Naqsh-e Jahan Square. At 512m long and 163m wide, Naqsh-e Jahan is one of the largest squares in the world, earning a listing as a Unesco World Heritage site. The name means ‘pattern of the world’ and it was designed to showcase the finest jewels of the Safavid empire – the incomparable Masjed-e Shah, the elegant Masjed-e Sheikh Lotfollah and the lavishly decorated Kakh-e Ali Qapu and Qeysarieh Portal. It is has changed little since it was built.

Day 7: Isfahan – Kashan – Tehran (B)

This morning we begin our drive back to Tehran. Enroute we visit the city of Kashan and explore some of its sights including Borujerdi House and the Fin Garden. In contrast to the arid location, the Fin garden flows with crystal-clear warm water channelled from a natural spring through a series of turquoise-tiled pools and fountains and continuing along the main road in jubs (canals, pronounced ‘joobs’). The evergreen trees inside the garden are up to 500 years old, and the profusion of complementary deciduous trees contributes to a garden that works to please year-round. After, we continue on to Tehran where the remaining part of the day is at leisure.

Day 8: Tehran (B)

After breakfast, we enjoy a full day tour of Tehran. Iran’s main city is a fascinating mix of modern progression and ancient customs. Starting with the Golestan Palace, this UNESCO site is a masterpiece of the Qajar era, embodying the successful integration of earlier Persian crafts and architecture with Western influences. We then continue to the museum where the Crown Jewels are housed. Here is the most dazzling collection of gemstones and jewellery known in the world on display to the public. After being amazed by the Crown Jewels, we visit the Archaeological museum where Iran’s history is on display, before finishing off at the Grand Bazaar, no trip to Tehran is complete without it.

Iranians have a saying that every home must have two things: first the Quran, then a collection of the works of Hafez.

Day 5: Shiraz – Nayriz – Kerman (B)

After breakfast we leave Shiraz for the city of Kerman. Enroute, passing by Nayriz to visit the Jame Mosque. The Jame mosque of Neyriz is one of the most ancient Iranian mosques. The mosque can claim to be one of the most valuable legacies of the Islam world. After, we visit Bakhtaghan Lake, before continuing to Kerman. Big, sprawling Kerman is something of a cultural melting pot, blending Persians with the more sub continental Baluchis, who dominate areas east of here.

Day 6: Kerman – Mahan – Rayen – Kerman (B)

Today, we take a morning drive to Mahan and Rayen. In Mahan, visit the Nematollah Tomb. The tomb of Shah Nur-eddin Nematollah Vali, poet, sage, Sufi and founder of an order of dervishes, has twin minarets covered with turquoise tiles from the bottom up to the cupola and is a stunning sight to behold. Continuing on to Rayen, we visit the Shazdeh Garden, before returning to Kerman to visit the Grand Bazaar. Stretching for 1200m from Tohid Sq northeast to Shohada Sq, Kerman’s Grand Bazaar is one of the oldest trading centres in Iran.

Day 7: Kerman – Yazd (B)

After breakfast we begin our drive to Yazd, enroute visiting Rafsanjan Pistachio Garden, before continuing to Yazd. Before heading to our hotel, we visit the Old City of Yazd. With its numerous badgirs (wind towers) rising above a labyrinth of adobe roofs, the historic old city of Yazd is one of the oldest towns on earth. Listed as a Unesco World Heritage site, it encompasses thousands of ancient dwellings, screened from the narrow kuches (lanes) by imposing mud walls. For the visitor, the old city offers a treasure trove of hidden courtyards and teahouses, shops selling crafts and houses converted into atmospheric hotels. Altogether, it is one of Iran’s don’t miss sights.

Day 8: Yazd (B)

After breakfast, we enjoy a full day tour of Yazd. The tour includes visits to the Water Museum, Dolat Abad Garden, the Tower of Silence and the Jame Mosque. With its winding lanes, forest of badgirs, mud-brick houses and delightful places to stay, Yazd is a ‘must see’ destination. On a flat plain ringed by mountains, the city is wedged between the northern Dasht-e Kavir and southern Kavir-e Lut and is every inch a city of the desert. It may not have the big-ticket sights of Esfahan or Shiraz, but, with its atmospheric alleyways and centuries of history, it exceeds both in its capacity to enchant.

Day 9: Yazd – Isfahan (B)

This morning we leave Yazd and make our way to Isfahan. Before we leave, we visit the Amir Chakhmagh. Amir Chakhmagh complex is one of the most remarkable squares of Iran located in the center of Yazd. It contains bazaar, mosque, tekye, bath and a watering place. Amir Chakhmagh complex was built in the 15th century by Jalal-al-din Amir Chakhmagh, who was the governor of Yazd in the Timurids period. After, we continue our drive to Isfahan.

Day 10: Isfahan (B)

Isfahan is one of the historical centres of Iran. Today we explore everything this incredible city has to offer, including the Shaking Minarets, Pigeon Tower, local Carpet Shops and the Khajoo Bridges. We finish our day with a visit to the Hasht Behest Palace. Once the most luxuriously decorated palace in Esfahan, the interior of the small Hasht Behesht Palace has been extensively damaged over the years, but it retains some spectacular details, including a superb stalactite ceiling with delicate painting. The same keyhole plasterwork seen in the Kakh-e Ali Qapu is featured on a small scale here too. The soaring wooden columns on the palace’s open-sided terrace are almost as tall as those still growing in the parkland that frames it.

Day 11: Isfahan (B)

Today enjoy another full day tour of Isfahan, including Ali Qapu Palace Pavilion, Sheikh Lutfullah Mosque, Abbasi (Imam) Mosque, and the Entrance to Qayssarieh Bazaar.

Day 12: Isfahan – Kashan – Tehran (B)

Day 13: Tehran (B)

After breakfast, we enjoy a full day tour of Tehran. Iran’s main city is a fascinating mix of modern progression and ancient customs. Starting with the Golestan Palace, this UNESCO site is a masterpiece of the Qajar era, embodying the successful integration of earlier Persian crafts and architecture with Western influences. We then continue to the museum where the Crown Jewels are housed. Here is the most dazzling collection of gemstones and jewellery known in the world on display to the public. Before finishing off at the Grand Bazaar, no trip to Tehran is complete without it!

Day 14: Tehran (B)

Today we see the sights we missed yesterday. We visit the Archaeological museum where Iran’s history is on display, before enjoying the Saad Abad Palace. With an area of more than 110 hectares, there lays Sa’ad Abad complex at the foot of the Alborz ranges, north of Tehran, situated to the west of Golab Dareh and east of Velenjak quarters. It was first the summer residence of Qajar kings, and then turned into Reza Shah’s summer residence following expansion and annexation of some other quarters.
