Day 1: Australia – – Munich
Depart Australia today to begin your journey of Bavaria and the Danube River.
Day 2: Munich
Today, arrive in to Munich! On arrival, please make your own way to your hotel.
Day 3: Munich (B)
This morning, enjoy breakfast at your hotel. After you are free to discover Munich on an included Hop on / Hop Off Bus Tour introducing the most important sights of the Bavarian Capital. From the upper deck of the open top sightseeing buses you have an unhindered view of the most important sights of Munich.
Day 4: Munich (B)
Today is a free day to either continue enjoying the Bavarian capital of Munich or enjoy one of the optional tours on offer to the surrounding areas.
Please note: Only 1 optional tour may be selected. Must be purchased prior to departure.
Optional Tour – Berchtesgaden and the Eagle’s Nest – Located on the peaks of Obersalzberg Mountain, you will go back in time as you learn about the importance of the National Socialism Documentation Centre. You will then take a tunnelled elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest, a high command post built by the Nazi party for Hitler’s 50th birthday.
Optional Tour – Salzburg – Enjoy a stunning ride through the Lower Bavarian Alps on your way to Salzburg. Walk through the picturesque old town of Mozart’s birthplace, then continue to Lake Wolfgangsee. You may want to take a boat ride to the White Horse Inn and the pilgrim church (payable locally). Travel past Lake Mondsee from Sound of Music as you return to Munich.
Day 5: Munich – Neuschwanstein – Munich (B)
Today after breakfast enjoy a full-day excursion to the Royal Bavarian Castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof. Tucked away in the mountains, the castles were built by the mad King Ludwig II and your guide will fill you in on his fantasy world. Depart for Linderhof, the French Rococo-style palace, before stopping in Oberammergau. Arrive at world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle where you will spend the rest of the afternoon before returning to Munich.
Entrance fees of approximately 22 Euros per person are payable locally.
Day 6: Munich – – Passau (B,D)
After breakfast, make your own way to the train station to board your train to Passau. Here the River Danube is joined by the Inn and Ilz rivers and grows to become one of Europe’s major waterways. Passau has a well preserved medieval centre, complete with Sankt Stephan Cathedral, home to Europe’s largest pipe organ. On arrival in Passau you will be collected from the Passau station and transferred to the port to board your 7 night river cruise on the Danube. Upon boarding, be welcomed by the crew and enjoy a Welcome dinner on board tonight.

Day 7: Melk & Vienna (B,L,D)
Located in the beautiful Unesco World Heritage ‘Wachau Valley’, the town of Melk has been a spiritual and cultural center of Austria for more than 1000 years. It is best known for its impressive baroque style, Benedictine monastery known as Melk Abbey which is also one of Austria’s great cultural highlights and Europe’s largest Abbeys.
Day 8: Vienna (B,L,D)
Vienna is one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe. Not only is it a place worth seeing for its architectural charm; it also boasts a collection of famous figures throughout history such as Sisi, Strauss, Mozart and the memorable images of Gustav Klimt. The city is bursting with history, distinguished monuments, museums, palaces, scenic parks, charming cafés and noteworthy pastry shops!
Day 9: Budapest (B,L,D)
As the capital of Hungary, Budapest is often called the “Paris of the East” and is a highlight for travelers from far and wide. You will get a sense of Budapest’s colorful history, but also insight into how the city’s division by the Danube river has played such an important role in society over the centuries – one side known as “Buda” and the other “Pest”.
Day 10: Budapest (B,L,D)
This morning, wake up to another day in Budapest. Your ship will depart after lunch giving you more time to explore this Eastern European wonder.
Day 11: Bratislava (B,L,D)
Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and is considered the main economic, political and cultural capital of the country. The city encompasses a fine blend of past and present; on one hand many historical buildings display the city’s rich past routes, however on the other hand, universities and urban youth cultures ultimately create a bustling juxtaposition within one city.
Day 12: Dürnstein (B,L,D)
Today we visit the medieval castle town of Dürnstein, situated in the beautiful heart of the ‘Wachau Valley’ in Austria.

Day 12: Linz (B,L,D)
Today we visit the city of Linz, straddling the Danube River midway between Salzburg and Vienna. Lined with beautiful Baroque buildings and the well preserved old town’s main square.
Day 13: Passau – – Munich (B)
This morning arrive back into Passau. You will be collected from the port and transferred to the station to board your train to Munich. On arrival in Munich the rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 13: Munich – – Australia (B)
Today at the appropriate time, make your own way the airport to board your onward flight.
Day 14: Australia
Arrive home today.
