Day 1: Australia – – Beijing
Board your flight for the capital of ancient China, Beijing! On arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in.
Day 2: Beijing (B)
Today is yours to explore bustling Beijing at your own pace.
Optional: Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City tour. Discover the imperial treasures of China’s iconic Tiananmen square, the largest public square in the world. Continue on to the ancient Forbidden City, once the former palace for emperors throughout the Ming Dynasty. Spend time wandering through its winding lanes and grand courtyards. Additional cost applies.
Day 3: Beijing (B)
Today is your last day to explore Beijing. Be sure to tick off any last monuments you want to see!
Optional: Great Wall of China and Jade Factory. Travel to the iconic Juyong Pass where you’ll have the opportunity to climb a section of the impressive Great Wall. After lunch, travel to Beijing’s largest Jade factory to learn about the manufacturing process it takes to produce this precious stone. Additional cost applies.
Day 4: Beijing – – Hangzhou (B)
Wake this morning to head out to visit the spectacular Temple of Heaven and to try your hand at the ancient martial art of Tai Chi. A site first constructed by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the complex is a peppered with religious buildings that are located in the south-eastern section of central Beijing. It’s then on to a traditional Chinese Medical Centre to indulge in an oriental foot massage and to learn about the art of Chinese Medicine. This evening you will board a high-speed train to Hangzhou, the next stop on your journey through China.
Day 5: Hangzhou (B, L)
Set out to tour the city of Hangzhou this morning. Known as the political, economic and cultural centre of the Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou is one of the most visited spots in the whole of China. Stop by the iconic West Lake area, and take in the magnificent landscapes and surrounds that have inspired an array of famous poets, scholars and artists since for thousands of years. Continue on to a local tea plantation to finish your afternoon learning about the way tea is picked and processed.
Optional: Song Dynasty show. Enjoy an evening of entertainment as you watch an incredible performance that showcases the spectacular history and culture of wonderful Hangzhou. Additional cost applies.
Day 6: Hangzhou – Suzhou (B, L)
Transfer to Suzhou this morning to see the Master of the Nets Garden, one of the most magnificent gardens in the whole of China. Spend time exploring the garden and admiring its natural beauty.
Optional: Grand Canal cruise. After lunch, head out on a cruise along the longest canal in the world, Suzhou’s Grand Canal. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, be sure to admire the gorgeous homes and sights that line their way along this impressive stretch of water. Additional cost applies.
Day 7: Suzhou – Shanghai (B, L)
Spend the morning exploring China’s most famous silk factory and learning about the impressive process that is undertaken to produce the material. Journey to Shanghai, where you will visit the Nanjing walking district on arrival and learn about the rich history of this bustling city. Stop by the Bund along the iconic Huangpu River, and take in the gorgeous views of the city where the old seamlessly blends with the new.
Optional: Huangpu River cruise. Take it some of Shanghai’s most iconic sites including the People’s Hero Monument, the Bund, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the dramatic skyline of the Pu Dong business district, as you cruise along the Huangpu River at night. Additional cost applies.
Day 8: Shanghai (B)
Today is yours to explore the buzzing city of Shanghai at your own pace. With so many incredible things to and see, it’s hard to know where to start! Why not stop by the sprawling Yuyuan Garden, or take a trip to one of the happiest places on earth, Shanghai Disneyland?
Day 9: Shanghai (B)
Today is your last full day in Shanghai. Make the most of it by heading out to tick off those last minute monuments and attractions you may have missed the day before.
Day 10: Shanghai – – Australia (B)
Enjoy one last breakfast before heading to Shanghai airport ready for your flight home to Australia.
Day 11: Australia
Arrive home today.
