Day 1: Australia – airplane-takeoff – Calgary

Today, depart Australia to begin your Canada & Alaska holiday!

On arrival after clearing customs and immigration formalities, make your own way to your hotel. The hotel provides a 24/7 airport shuttle. You can request the hotel shuttle with the phones located in the arrivals hall. On arrival at your hotel, the remainder of the day is free at leisure. Tonight, your Webjet tour guide will welcome you to Canada.

Alberta’s landscape encompasses mountains, prairies, desert badlands and vast coniferous forests. It has more than 600 lakes, and rich mineral deposits. In the west, the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks have glaciers in the Columbia Icefields. The Waterton Glacier International Peace Park is a biosphere reserve that straddles the southern border with the USA.

Hotel: Ramada Plaza Calgary Airport or similar

Day 2: Calgary – Lake Louise – Banff – Canmore (B)

After breakfast, we begin our journey into the Canadian Rockies heading towards the “Diamond in the Wilderness” otherwise known as Lake Louise. There is time to enjoy the foreshore and gaze at the emerald waters and towering mountains. We also will make a stop at the stunning Lake Moraine on the way.

We then continue our journey through the Rocky Mountains to the chic mountain town of Banff. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline. On Banff Avenue, the main thoroughfare, boutiques and restaurants mix with château-style hotels and souvenir shops. After time to wander the streets of Banff, we continue onto Canmore for our overnight stop.

Hotel: Grande Rockies Resort or similar

 Day 3: Canmore – Columbia Icefields – Canmore (B)

After breakfast, we head towards the “Icefields Parkway”, an exciting excursion atop the Athabasca Glacier. To travel the Icefields Parkway is to experience one of Canada’s national treasures. Stretching 232km (144mi.) through the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks World Heritage Site, this world-class journey offers access to a vast wilderness of pristine mountain lakes, ancient glaciers and broad sweeping valleys. Our destination on this parkway is the “Columbia Icefield”, the largest icefield in the Rocky Mountains of North America.

Optional Tour (extra cost applies, refer fine print): This tour takes visitors onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier by Ice Explorer; a massive vehicle specially designed for glacial travel. An experienced driver-guide will share a wealth of fascinating information about glaciers, icefields and their impact on our environment during this one hour and 20 minute journey — Must be booked prior to departure from Australia.

Morning at leisure at Three Valley Lake Chateau. Optional visit of the 3 Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town. 3 Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town gives you the opportunity to relive the colourful pioneer days of the late 1800’s. Gold fever brought thousands of fortune seekers to this part of the country in 1862. The gold rush was short lived, leaving behind many abandoned buildings and towns, now known as Ghost Towns. The Ghost Town visit includes over 25 Historic Buildings, Wagon & Buggy Shop, Monashee Mining Co., Antique Auto Museum and Railway Roundhouse. Entry can be purchased on arrival.

We then depart at around midday for your sightseeing transfer to Kamloops with stops in Craigellachie and by Shuswap Lake.

Hotel: Ramada Kamloops or similar

Day 6: Kamloops – Whistler (B)

After breakfast, we continue our tour driving west from Kamloops along the shore of Kamloops Lake to reach Cache Creek then on to Lillooet which was Mile 0 of the Gold Rush Trail. Travel the beautiful Duffey Lake road which winds through the Coast Mountains to the ranch country around Pemberton. A short drive south lies the four season resort town of Whistler where we stay overnight.

Over two million people visit Whistler annually, primarily for alpine skiing and snowboarding and, in Summer, mostly mountain biking. Its pedestrian village centre has won numerous design awards and Whistler has been voted among the top destinations in North America. Whistler’s urban landscape was specifically designed to accommodate the natural environment. Many of Whistler’s bears have learned to do things like open car doors or hold spring-closed gates open so they can reach food.

Cruise: Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas

Day 11: Alaska Inside Passage cruising – Juneau (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Today we continue cruising into the Alaska Inside Passage. Have your camera ready to capture the rugged beauty of the islands and mainland coast of southern Alaska. The views include glaciers, fjords, soaring cliffs and misty northern rainforest.

We then port in Juneau. Surrounded by fjords, forest and snow-capped mountains, Juneau is one gorgeous state capital. Its historic city centre harkens back to its gold-rush origins and you can still pan for gold. When you’re in Juneau, you shouldn’t miss the amazing glacial landscape.

Cruise: Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas

Day 12: Skagway (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Today we dock in Skagway. In 1897, gold stampeders from all over the world arrived in Skagway by steamship, bound for the Dawson Gold Fields in Canada’s Yukon Territory. It wasn’t long before the rough and-tumble tent town was festooned with boardwalks, dance halls, inns and saloons. More than 100 years later, Skagway still retains the feel of those Gold Rush days.

Cruise: Royal Caribbean Ovation of the Seas

Day 13: Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier (B,L,D) cruise-icon

One of Alaska’s lesser-known gems, Endicott Arm Fjord marks the southern edge of Fords Terror Wilderness area. As you drift through its 30-mile-long stretch, you can’t help but be awed by the surrounding granite cliffs, mountain valleys and dozens of gushing waterfalls. Drifting icebergs, deep blue waters and a spectacular tidewater glacier only add to this natural spectacle’s appeal. Endicott Arm is one of the largest breeding grounds for harbour seals on the planet. Keep your eyes peeled for these creatures splashing in icy waters near the ship. Along the shore, you might also glimpse brown bears, bald eagles, sea ducks, deer, moose and wolves. Your journey through scenic Endicott Arm Fjord ends with a front-row view of Dawes Glacier. Standing over 182 metres tall and 0.8 km wide, this very active ice cap is known for its spectacular calving displays which produce huge, chunky icebergs that float in area waters.

Take the opportunity to stroll the lush grounds and learn why Victoria earned the name ‘The City of Gardens’.

Also known as “Emerald City,” Seattle lies between the Puget Sound and Lake Washington, framed by the Olympic Mountains and the Cascades. You will be able to see the famous Space Needle from several spots throughout the city tour. Some of the additional highlights include Pioneer Square, the elegant houses at Lake Washington and the peninsula Magnolia. You may pass by where Bill Gates lives, the richest person on earth. A second lake, Lake Union, also offers a great picture opportunity with the Seattle Skyline in the background.

Tipping:

Towards the end of your tour:

If you have enjoyed the knowledge, service and expertise of your tour guide and driver a tip (while not compulsory) is appropriate towards the end of your tour. The following is provided to assist our guests, but we leave the decision to provide a gratuity entirely at their discretion:

The group leader: Our past guests have left gratuities based on their overall service of CAD $6 per person per day

The driver & assistant:  Our past guests have left gratuities based on their overall service of CAD $4 per person per day

Gratuities aren’t compulsory on your trip, but they can make a big difference to locals employed in the tourism industry. Your guide will hand around two envelopes towards the end of the tour (1 Tour Guide and 1 Driver envelope) to make the process as easy as possible.

Tour Excludes:

  • Tipping
  • Porterage
  • Shore Excursions
  • Travel Insurance
