Journey from Vancouver to Jasper onboard a VIA Rail train. Settle into your sleeper berth as the train travels through some of Canada’s most striking countryscapes including Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Indulge in a delicious dinner on-board before arriving in Jasper. Wander through the quaint streets of this gorgeous alpine town, breathing in the crisp Fall air. An early morning departure takes you along the world-famous Icefields Parkway to the alpine resort town of Lake Louise. Gaze in awe at the towering frozen waterfalls and majestic peaks covered, as the bright, orange colours of Autumn slowly disappear underneath a pristine layer of white, velvet snow.
Head to the town of Banff and be captivated by the grandeur of the snow-capped mountains that surround the quaint town. Listen to the crunch of Autumn leaves as you set out on a Discover Banff and Wildlife Tour. Visiting epic viewpoints and landmarks, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the beauty of Bow Valley and the abandoned mining town of Bankhead. End the day embracing the spectacular views from the top of Sulphur Mountain, taking in all six stunning mountain ranges, as you enjoy a scenic Gondola ride.
Day 1: Australia –

Board your international flight bound for Vancouver. On arrival, please make your own way to your hotel, where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Opt for some rest and relaxation after your flight, or choose to visit the Vancouver Aquarium or spend time strolling the colourful local neighbourhoods.

Day 2: Vancouver
You have today as free time. Make use of your Hop-On Hop-Off day pass, exploring the attractions of buzzing Vancouver on-board a clear top bus and San Francisco-style trolleys. This flexible Pass combines the CITY and PARK Routes and offers all the highlights of downtown Vancouver, including major attractions, and scenic points of interest. Choose to Hop-Off at any of the 29 stops, and Hop-On again to continue the tour at your own leisure. It’s a great way to soak in all that the city has to offer, including the sprawling green lawns of Stanley Park and the vibrant stalls at Public Market.
Day 3: Vancouver
Today, enjoy a visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park – A Canadian Signature Experience. Appreciate nature from three breathtaking perspectives – the world famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, the seven bridges of Treetops Adventure and the new Cliffwalk, high above Capilano River. The 450-foot-long, 230-foot-high Capilano Suspension Bridge has thrilled visitors since 1889. While the wobbly bridge is an iconic Vancouver landmark, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park offers an all-encompassing experience. History, culture and nature are presented in unique and thrilling ways with knowledgeable staff and interpretive signage providing as much or as little information as guests want. Treetops Adventure takes guests 100 feet into the mid-story of a thriving coastal rainforest. Cliffwalk follows a granite precipice along Capilano River through lush rainforest vegetation. Day 4: VIA Rail – Vancouver –
– Jasper
Enjoy the morning at leisure in Vancouver before making your own arrangements for transfer to the train station for a mid-afternoon train departure. Tonight you will sleep on-board a VIA Rail train in a sleeper berth. Via Rail’s The Canadian is considered one of the top 10 train journeys in the world to enjoy. The Canadian is a true train experience, sleep on-board the train in a private bed, enjoy all meals in the Dining Car and revel in the majestic views of the Canadian landscape while seated in the glass dome viewing carriages. Dinner is included.
Day 5: VIA Rail – Vancouver –
– Jasper
Your continued journey on VIA Rail will take you past Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3954 meters (12,972 ft.), before entering Jasper National Park. Arrive in Jasper in the late morning at around 11am and make your own way to the hotel.
The rest of the afternoon is yours at leisure. Take a stroll around the quaint alpine town or sample its local fare.
Day 6: Jasper – Lake Louise
This morning rise early for your shared scheduled transfer along the world-famous Icefields Parkway. Towering frozen waterfalls and majestic peaks covered in a pristine layer of white snow await you on this stunning, winter wonderland journey. Arrive in Lake Louise in the late morning with drop off at your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. During your stay, you’ll discover first-hand what makes Lake Louise one of the most spectacular sights in the Rockies. Be sure that your camera has plenty of storage space for all of the photos you will snap of the awe-inspiring snow capped mountains and pristine wilderness that surrounds you.
Day 7: Lake Louise
Enjoy a day at leisure in Lake Louise. This alpine lake, known for its sparkling blue waters, is situated at the base of impressive glacier-clad peaks that have long been at the heart of Canadian mountaineering. The lake offers one of the most scenic skating rinks in the world in winter.
Day 8: Lake Louise – Banff
Enjoy time at leisure before pick up from your hotel for the scheduled transfer to Banff. On arrival in Banff, you will be dropped of at your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore this quaint resort town.
Day 9: Banff
This morning you will be picked up for your Discover Banff and its Wildlife Tour. Visit Banff viewpoints, landmarks and historic places on this popular half-day sightseeing tour. Enjoy the stunning scenery and short walks to must-see locations, taking photos and spotting wildlife. Hear how the 11,000 year old human history of the Bow Valley changed when three railway workers rediscovered a hidden natural hot spring. Visit the abandoned mining town of Bankhead, a relic of Banff’s industrial past. Soak up the views on a scenic Gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain. With six stunning mountain ranges and the sweep of the Bow Valley laid out before you, views from the summit are nothing short of breathtaking. There’s much more to discover inside the state-of-the-art facility that’ll heighten your senses at every turn. VIA Rail Canada:
Train Sleeper Touring Class Berth – by day, they form two couch style seats facing each other. By night, berths convert to curtained, semi-private compartments with two stacked beds, with access to a shared shower and toilet. You’ll also be provided with shower kits including shampoo, soap and fresh towels. At night, the upper berth is lowered forming one bed (no window) and the lower benches pull out to meet and create a second bed. Train staff drape the area with two heavy half-curtains to ensure privacy and a ladder is added to access the upper berth. These beds are 70×33 inches and 178×109 cm. As a safety measure and a concern for all passengers’ comfort, beds are made and ladders are put away each morning no later than 10:00 am. Berth accommodations do not have electrical outlets, although the public washrooms do have a large mirror and electrical outlet for use.
Private Cabin – The cabin for 2 is a private space supplied with two armchairs, a walk-in private washroom, separate sink/vanity mirror, a small closet, fan, call button, double bunk-style beds that lower and fold down from the wall, electrical outlet, and shower amenities. There is one public shower/dressing room per car. By night, the service attendant collapses the two armchairs and pulls out two comfortable bunks adorned with comforters and completed with personal reading lights. The room is 87×60 inches or 214×152 cm with an additional private bathroom area.
