Highlights

An extraordinary experience encompassing charter flights, city tours throughout stunning South America and a once-in-a-lifetime expedition of the White Continent with a 19 day Ultimate Antarctica tour plus fly the Drake Passage with South America tour.

Depending on the itinerary you choose will determine your starting point for this incredible adventure. Whether it be Lima or Rio de Janeiro, spectacular experiences will follow you everywhere you go on this once-in-a-lifetime journey. Travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in breath-taking Machu Picchu, exploring the ancient relics of this lost city only rediscovered in 1911. Wander through the heart of Cusco, vising the local markets, indulging in delicious street eats and taking in the gorgeous Spanish and Inca influences peppered throughout the city.

A visit to Rio de Janeiro wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, an impressive monument that sits high above the city below. Take in the picturesque views from the top of Sugar Loaf and enjoy a traditional Brazilian BBQ lunch, as you see the top sites of this vibrant city, including Duque de Caxias Palace, Itamaraty Palace and the Selaron Stairs. Visit the cascading Iguazu Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides, before continuing on to stunning Santiago. Stop by Plaza de Armas, La Moneda and the view-blessed summit of Cerro Santa Lucia, before travelling towards the Pacific Coast on an excursion to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar. There is even a stop at a vineyard for a tasting of local wines!

It is then time for you to fly further south towards Punta Arenas in Chile’s Patagonia region. Overnight in the city before boarding your charter flight. This is what really sets this trip apart; many other Antarctic adventures see you navigate the notorious waters of the Drake Passage by sea – a journey that can take several days. On this tour however, you soar above the Drake Passage and descend to land at King George Island in only a few hours! You also get to see the Drake Passage from a perspective few others get to enjoy. From King George Island you hop into a Zodiac for a water transfer to the Quark Ocean Adventurer. The next four days you spend aboard the ship will be a flurry of thrilling Zodiac landings, unforgettable and educational shore excursions, hikes to penguin rookeries, and chance sightings of some of Antarctica’s most iconic animals – seals, whales and seabirds. When you’re not exploring the White Continent you can attend presentations delivered by the expert Expedition Team, covering topics including Antarctica’s glaciology, history and wildlife.

Optional Activities:

Dates: 7 December 2020, 12 December 2020, 17 December 2020

Kayaking – $1,410 per person. Paddlers who join the Sea Kayak program will endeavour to kayak multiple times throughout the voyage, whenever weather and voyage logistics permit. In addition, the Sea Kayakers paddle a more technical vessel: a traditional sea kayak that has spray skirts to enclose paddlers into the kayak. The paddler must be able to comfortably roll as a minimum requirement and will not miss out on landing site opportunities.

Paddling Excursion – $420 per person. The Paddling Excursion offers guests with all ranges of paddling experience the opportunity to participate in a paddling activity, using an inflatable sit-on-top kayak. During the paddling excursion, participants will paddle for approximately 1 – 1.5 hours with an experienced kayak guide and Zodiac safety driver. The Paddling Excursion is a one-time experience and no experience is required.

Watch: Antarctica – Kayaking the 7th Continent (360° VR).

Optional tours are subject to availability, weather conditions and minimum numbers and book out well in advance. We suggest you submit your booking request as soon as possible.

Optional Tours requested within 120 days of travel cannot be accepted. You can purchase your optional tours by clicking here.

Charter Flight over the Drake: Please note, there is a strict luggage limit of 33 lbs (15 kg) checked luggage and 11 lbs (5 kg) cabin baggage on the flights between Punta Arenas and King George Island. Should you have additional luggage, it can be stored at the hotel in Punta Arenas. There is NO option to pay for additional luggage.

Important Information regarding Charter Flight: Due to weather conditions, flying in this region can be difficult and is beyond the control of Quark Expeditions. Inclement weather conditions may delay or require a cancellation of the remaining itinerary after the final attempts to operate flights, Quark Expeditions will offer passengers a full refund on the cruise fare in the event of trip interruption if the charter flight is not able to take off by 14:00 hrs of the final day of attempts. However, international airfare, domestic airfare, any additional services purchased or change fees, will not be refunded by Quark. Quark Expeditions will provide a trip interruption letter to be submitted by the passenger to their insurance company for airfare, change fees, and other expenses incurred due to the trip interruption.

Quark strongly recommends that all expedition guests purchase a travel insurance policy including trip delay, cancellation and interruption insurance.

Fitness Requirement: Coaches and Zodiac’s are not equipped with wheelchair access, therefore tours are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users and those who are less mobile. A reasonable level of fitness will be required. If you have any concerns please consult your healthcare provider prior to purchase/travel. It remains each passenger’s responsibility to inform Webjet Exclusives of any health or mobility issues that may impact the running of the tour, both for the safety of the passenger concerned and for other travellers in the group.

Itinerary: Please note, tour itinerary is subject to change without prior notice based upon weather, traffic condition and other unforeseen occurrences.

Important reminder: Embracing the unexpected is part of the legacy – and excitement – of expedition travel. There are no guarantees that we can achieve everything we set out to accomplish. A measure of flexibility is something all of us must bring to a voyage. There are nearly 200 recognised sites in the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetlands and the places mentioned above may be changed to others equally as interesting.

Tipping: If you have enjoyed the knowledge, service and expertise of your tour guide and driver a tip (while not compulsory) is appropriate towards the end of your tour. While it may not be customary in Australia, tipping is entrenched into many cultures especially within the tourism industry globally. It helps reward and inspire excellent service. The following is provided to assist our guests, but we leave the decision to provide a gratuity entirely at their discretion:

Our past guests have left gratuities based on their overall service of USD $10-15 per day, with between USD $3-5 per day being allocated towards the expedition team. Both of these are entirely at your discretion.

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all customers purchase Travel Insurance as soon as they make a purchase on our website. Help cover yourself for the unexpected with Webjet Travel Insurance, we highly recommend it. Click here for a quote.

Visas: Visas are not included. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they meet the visa requirements for the country they are visiting. Webjet Exclusives is unable to provide visa advice.

For Visa assistance, please visit Webjet’s Travel Visa Service page

Any deposits paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.
