Highlights

Sail past pretty riverside towns, hill-perched castles and medieval villages aboard a spectacular 17 day Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise.

The waters of the Danube are legendary. Winding its way through 10 countries and past countless postcard-worthy towns and cities, the Danube is arguably one of the most famous river journeys in the world. This unforgettable 17 day voyage takes you through the most picturesque sections of the Danube as it snakes from Budapest in Hungary to Amsterdam in Holland. You embark from Budapest, but not before taking in all that this enchanting city has to offer, such as the opulent House of Parliament, the Royal Palace and Matthias Church. You then set out for Bratislava in Slovakia and gain insight into one of Europe’s youngest capital cities courtesy of a guided tour. The next stop is Vienna, the ever-elegant and graceful Imperial city of Austria. Take a turn around Ringstrasse to see Hofburg Palace, among other landmarks, and depart for Durnstein in the Wachau Valley.

Make the trip to the Benedictine Abbey near Melk, and spend time in Passau, Regensburg and Nuremberg. The cruise itinerary takes you through Bamberg, Wurzburg, Wertheim and Miltenberg, where you will enjoy guided city or walking tours in each. Look out for Lorelei Rock – named after the eponymous mythical siren – as you travel to Koblenz, and enjoy a pitstop in Cologne, the capital of the Rhineland. Finally, you arrive into Amsterdam. See the city’s most popular monuments and landmarks on a sightseeing tour, and then get back onto the water; this time in a glass-top boat for a cruise through Amsterdam’s world-famous canal system.

This cruise is available on a reverse route, from Amsterdam to Budapest.

Optional Tours requested within 65 days of travel cannot be accepted.

Itinerary: Please note, tour itinerary is subject to change without prior notice based upon weather, traffic conditions and other unforeseen occurrences.
While most of the time river cruises operate exactly as planned, weather conditions may result in high or low water levels which impact a ship’s itinerary and, on occasion, render a ship unable to sail at all. On very rare occasions, other events such as heavy fog, a damaged lock, or an incapacitated vessel blocking the river, may impact a sailing. These events typically occur with little or no notice. In the event that a cruise is partially or completely impacted, the itinerary will be operated by deluxe motor coach, accompanied by a Tour Manager, with overnights in hotels. The itinerary will include as many of the originally scheduled sightseeing features as possible, considering the travel time and distances required, as well as meals.
These alternative services will be provided at no additional charge.

Tipping: Whist gratuities for the Tour Manager and a driver are included. If you have enjoyed the service of the cruise staff, a tip (while not compulsory) is appropriate towards the end of your tour. While it may not be customary in Australia, tipping is entrenched into many cultures especially within the tourism industry globally.

Health: This moderately active trip covers a fair amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking every touring day. The pace is moderate, however, you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes.
It remains each passenger’s responsibility to inform Webjet Exclusives of any health or mobility issues that may impact the running of the tour, both for the safety of the passenger concerned and for other travellers in the group.

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all customers purchase Travel Insurance as soon as they make a purchase on our website. Help cover yourself for the unexpected with Webjet Travel Insurance, we highly recommend it. Click here for a quote.

Visas: Visas are not included. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they meet the visa requirements for the country they are visiting. Webjet Exclusives is unable to provide visa advice.
