Highlights

Take in beautiful blooms, windmills and heritage towns on a 15 day Tulip Time river cruise with Amsterdam and Paris.

Arrive in Amsterdam, the cool capital of the Netherlands. A guided city tour is the ideal way to begin your discovery of Amsterdam, as you check off sights including Anne Frank House, the Royal Palace on Dam Square, and the Dutch National Monument. You will also see Amsterdam from the water by climbing into a glass-top boat for a scenic joy ride past some of the city’s waterfront warehouses and heritage homes. Get an artistic fix with a guided tour through Rijksmuseum, one of Amsterdam’s most popular galleries, and make the most of some extra free time to revisit any favourite pitstops from your time in the city so far.

It is then onto the glorious river cruise, setting sail from Amsterdam and making the first port in Nijmegen, the oldest town in the Netherlands. Dock in Antwerp, a port city that was an epicentre of the old-world diamond trade and go to Ghent for a glimpse at its medieval structures. Learn about the construction of the Delta Works, wander through the glorious gardens at Keukenhof, and tick off another of the Netherlands’ iconic sights: windmills, at a farm near Kinderdijk. Time spent cruising between river destinations can be spent relaxing in your Outside Cabin on-board; a private balcony means there is nothing except a pane of glass between you and gorgeous water views. Make sure to spend some of the cruising time – and any other free time while in port – enjoying the ship and its facilities, such as mingling with other passengers in the bar and lounge or taking in the passing landscape from a lounge on the sundeck.

The cruise makes its return voyage to Amsterdam where you disembark and begin travelling south into Belgium for a tour of Brussels. The final stop of your extraordinary trip is an equally extraordinary city: Paris. Be swept away by the City of Lights’ magic as you see its coterie of instantly recognisable sights, including the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower.

Day 1: Australia – airplane-takeoff – Amsterdam

Depart on your international flight to the Netherlands.

Day 2: Amsterdam

Welcome to Amsterdam! You arrive in the capital of the Netherlands and make your own way to the hotel. You have the remainder of the day to use as free time; choose to begin your discovery of this magical city by yourself or opt to relax at the hotel. Head downstairs at about 6pm this evening for a welcome drink and orientation meeting with the local host. This is followed by a briefing about what to expect from the upcoming trip.

Day 3: Amsterdam (B) coach_icon

Your first full day of the trip starts with a city tour of Amsterdam. The city is packed with exceptional museums, incredible architecture and a number of historical sites. Step into a glass-top boat for a cruise through Amsterdam’s famous canal network and pass by waterfront warehouses, heritage homes and grand churches. Continue by foot to Anne Frank House, the Royal Palace on Dam Square, and the Dutch National Monument. You are able to enjoy the rest of the day as free time.

Day 4: Amsterdam (B, D)  cruise-icon

A visit to Amsterdam’s most prolific museum, Rijksmuseum, is on the cards for this morning. A guided tour takes you through the museum and introduces you to some of its incredible works – from artists including Vermeer and Rembrandt. An afternoon transfer takes you to the cruise port for the embarkation process. You then have time to relax on-board and settle into your cabin before heading to the Captain’s welcome cocktail and dinner.

Day 5: Amsterdam (B, L, D)  cruise-icon

Make the most of your final full day in Amsterdam. Today’s itinerary is up to you and you might choose to rent a bicycle (the transportation method preferred by locals) to explore the city’s alleyways and hidden courtyards. Or you could be tempted to sit down with a plate of sugar-dusted and butter-soaked poffertjes (small Dutch pancakes).

Day 6: Amsterdam – Nijmegen – Antwerp (B, L, D)  cruise-icon

The cruise departs Amsterdam and docks in Nijmegen this morning. Nijmegen is the oldest town in the Netherlands and a walking tour sees you uncover its long-stretching history. You can also explore the collection of quirky shops, alfresco cafes and heritage buildings. The cruise sails to Antwerp, Belgium this evening.

Optional: Kröller-Müller Museum Tour
This museum is located within the Hoge Veluwe National Park and is home to the second-largest collection of Van Gogh works in the world. The museum has also gained recognition for its collection of 19th- and 20th-century pieces, including works from Monet, Picasso, Mondrian and Seurat. Head out to the gorgeous sculpture garden to gaze upon more than 160 creations, including some by Rodin and Moore. Tour duration is approximately 4 hours. Additional cost applies.

Day 7: Antwerp (B, L, D) – cruise-icon

Arrive in Antwerp, one of Europe’s largest and most historic port cities. Antwerp was once a major diamond-trading city and evidence of this 16th-century wealth can be seen in the lavish homes lining the streets. A city tour of Antwerp takes in the Cathedral of Our Lady and the city marketplace, the latter of which is flanked by the Renaissance-style Town Hall. Take advantage of this afternoon’s free time to explore as you like, or head back to the ship to relax.

Day 8: Ghent (B, L, D)  cruise-icon

Today, the boat docks in Ghent, a port city in northwest Belgium. A tour of Ghent will see you admire St. Bavo’s Cathedral and Gravensteen Castle. See the Ghent Belfry, an emblem of the city’s independence, and the Gothic-style Cloth Hall. Return to the ship for free time after.

Optional: Bruges City Tour
Travel to Bruges, a pretty town that has fairytale good looks and a network of canals so impressive that it has earned the nickname, ‘Venice of the North’. Bruges also lays claim to a wealth of well-preserved medieval buildings. On this tour you will see the Lake of Love (Minnewater) and the Beguinage convent. Tour duration is approximately 5 hours. Additional cost applies.

Day 9: Ghent – Rotterdam (B, L, D) – cruise-icon

Back on the ship, sit down to tonight’s farewell dinner as the cruise makes the return journey to Amsterdam.

Take a photo by the museum’s controversial glass pyramid and then head inside to gaze upon works including Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace and, of course, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. You can remain at the Louvre at the end of the tour or continue to explore Paris independently. Tour duration is approximately 3 hours. Additional cost applies.

Day 13: Paris (B)

Your final day in Paris is at your leisure. Tick off more of the city’s landmarks and monuments – Sacré-Cœur, Musée d’Orsay, Place de la Concorde, Centre Pompidou, Palais Garnier – or choose to wander some of Paris’s beautiful arrondissements to discover hidden cafes, hole-in-the-wall bakeries and pretty courtyards.

Itinerary: Please note, tour itinerary is subject to change without prior notice based upon weather, traffic conditions and other unforeseen occurrences.
While most of the time river cruises operate exactly as planned, weather conditions may result in high or low water levels which impact a ship’s itinerary and, on occasion, render a ship unable to sail at all. On very rare occasions, other events such as heavy fog, a damaged lock, or an incapacitated vessel blocking the river, may impact a sailing. These events typically occur with little or no notice. In the event that a cruise is partially or completely impacted, the itinerary will be operated by deluxe motor coach, accompanied by a Tour Manager, with overnights in hotels. The itinerary will include as many of the originally scheduled sightseeing features as possible, considering the travel time and distances required, as well as meals.
These alternative services will be provided at no additional charge.

Tipping: Whilst gratuities for the Tour Manager and a driver are included, if you have enjoyed the service of the cruise staff, a tip (while not compulsory) is appropriate towards the end of your tour. While it may not be customary in Australia, tipping is entrenched into many cultures especially within the tourism industry globally.

Health: This moderately active trip covers a fair amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking every touring day. The pace is moderate, however, you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes.
It remains each passenger’s responsibility to inform Webjet Exclusives of any health or mobility issues that may impact the running of the tour, both for the safety of the passenger concerned and for other travellers in the group.

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all customers purchase Travel Insurance as soon as they make a purchase on our website. Help cover yourself from the unexpected with Webjet Travel Insurance, we highly recommend it. Click here for a quote.

Visas: Visas are not included. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they meet the visa requirements for the country they are visiting. Webjet Exclusives is unable to provide visa advice.

Any deposits paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.
