Highlights

Take in the spectacular scenery, idyllic Norman towns and the City of Lights aboard a 10 day Seine River cruise with Paris and the Normandy Beaches cruise with Emirates flights.

Your voyage departs from the brilliant Paris and follows the Seine as the river winds through Normandy. The banks of the Seine in these parts are sprinkled with majestic abbeys, towns and villages with fairytale good looks, thick forests and cliff-perched ruins. You see the best bits aboard a luxury river cruise ship. Your ship is unlike some of the other vessels cruising the Seine: it is smaller, meaning that as well as lending the atmosphere aboard a more exclusive and intimate feel, it allows the ship to make port closer to the centre of towns. It is also not as beholden to the river’s fluctuating water levels as are other boats.

Be welcomed aboard with a drink upon arrival and an introduction to the ship’s friendly crew. Settle into your first night on-board with a French-inspired dinner; the fare served aboard your cruise takes its cues from classic French cuisine. Cabins are sprinkled across Upper and Main Decks and include TVs, ensuites with showers, and WiFi. Of course, the ship also has a top Sun Deck that comes sprinkled with lounge chairs and optimum vantage points from which to admire the stunning Norman scenery as you float along the river.

Once setting out from Paris, the cruise itinerary covers Normandy’s most enchanting ports. The first stop is Vernon where you’ll step off-boat for an excursion to arguably one of the most famous gardens in France: Foundation Monet in Giverny. Wander past the blooms that inspired Monet’s masterpieces, and spend the following day discovering the treasures along the Norman Abbeys Trail from Duclair. It is then onto Honfleur, a city sat on the estuary where the Seine meets the English Channel. Here there are two choices for passengers: to take up a trip to the glamorous Côte Fleurie and then a guided tour of Honfleur, or to make the journey to the beaches used for the D-Day landings during World War II. The next port is Rouen. This city is the capital of Normandy and on your guided tour of its streets you’ll see its Notre-Dame Cathedral, Great Clock, and the marketplace where Joan of Arc was executed in 1431. The penultimate port is Les Andelys and there is a visit to Château de Martainville to gain some final insight into the history of the region and how life was once lived in Normandy 500 years ago. A farewell gala dinner caps off your Seine Valley experience in style as you cruise back towards Paris for disembarkation.

Choose the way you cruise

With its carefully selected shore excursions, this itinerary is ideal for travellers who want to enrich their river cruise experience with local insight into port destinations. Most excursions have a running time of approximately four hours so also leave passengers with the opportunity for free time and sightseeing at their own pace. However, this river cruise experience is also available to purchase as a standalone trip; participation in the excursions is not included, which can be pre-booked individually. Passengers may opt to pay to join these excursions once on the ship, however please note that some activities are only available to those that book prior to departure.

Day 1: Paris (D) cruise-icon

Make your own way to the Paris port to begin embarkation at 6pm. You will be greeted with a welcome cocktail and invited to settle into your plush cabin (located on the Main or Upper Deck). There is an introduction to the crew before you sit down to enjoy your first dinner aboard. Tonight’s meal includes a French-inspired menu that offers just a taste of the on-board cuisine you can expect in the coming days. There is also a cruise through Paris to discover the cityscape at night should water levels permit.

Day 2: Paris (B, L, D) cruise-icon

Step back onto dry land for a guided coach tour of Paris. This excursion is the perfect way to get a taste of Paris’ most magnificent sites, and the sightseeing itinerary takes you past Bercy, F. Mitterrand National Library, the remnants of the Bastille, through Marais, the Latin Quarter and St Germain; also past the Louvre and its Pyramid, Opera Garnier, Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde, Champs Élysées, Arc de Triomphe, Les Invalides, Trocadero and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.

Please note that this excursion must have a minimum of 25 participants in order to proceed and the sightseeing order may change. The duration of the tour is approximately 3-and-a-half hours, and it must be booked in advance if partaking on the first evening or morning following boarding.

Day 3: Paris – Vernon – Duclair (B, L, D) cruise-icon

The ship makes the voyage towards Vernon this morning. This quaint Norman town is popular thanks to its proximity to Claude Monet’s gorgeous gardens in Giverny; an excursion to the gardens is included in your cruise and is on the agenda for today. A coach transports you to Monet’s former home and you have a chance to see its art-inspiring blooms, ponds and water lilies for yourself. You can also see the interior of Monet’s home and admire the warm, rich colour scheme he was fond of. Once you are back on the ship you may choose to relax and unwind in the privacy of your beautiful cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the ship lounge. There is evening entertainment on-board as the cruise continues to travel towards Duclair.

Please note that this excursion must have a minimum of 25 participants in order to proceed and the sightseeing order may change. The duration of the tour is approximately 3-and-a-half hours, and it must be booked in advance if partaking on the first evening or morning following boarding.

Day 4: Duclair – Honfleur (B, L, D) cruise-icon

The cruise continues to Duclair in the evening. Duclair occupies a pretty perch along the Abbeys Trail, and also has rich gastronomic clout – especially for its namesake duck. Today’s excursion is a trip along the Norman Abbeys Trail. The first stop is Jumièges Abbey, a site once described by Victor Hugo as one of the most beautiful ruins in all of France. Learn about the Abbey’s history and how it was built, destroyed by Vikings and then restored, before heading to the ruins of the Church of Saint Peter and then the Abbey of Saint Wandrille (or Wandregisel). This last abbey remains the home to Benedictine monks, who settled here in 1931. The cruise departs for Honfleur.

Please note that this excursion must have a minimum of 25 participants in order to proceed and the sightseeing order may change. The duration of the tour is approximately 3-and-a-half hours.

Day 5: Honfleur (B, L, D) cruise-icon

Arrive in Honfleur and head out on the first of today’s excursions: to the Côte Fleurie. This chic stretch of coastline covers about 40 kilometres, and your first experience with it is a stop in Deauville. Here, you can meander along the famous floorboards that were built in the beach in 1923 and walk past the casino. A coach then takes you to Breuil castle, home to a prestigious distillery where you have opportunity to learn about the Calvados-making process before enjoying a tasting. The duration of this excursion is about 4 hours and it requires 25 people to proceed. Head back into Honfleur for the day’s second activity: a guided walking tour around Honfleur. This small port destination was one of the birthplaces of the Impressionist movement and is today one of the most visited places in France. The tour begins in Vieux Bassin to see its collection of narrowly-built houses, and the group then moves to Saint Catherine’s Church, the largest of its kind in France. The church has been the subject of much research by archaeologists and historians alike. The tour’s next stop is the 17th-century Salt Halls, which have been transformed into spaces for exhibitions, concerts and conferences. The Halls were destroyed during the Hundred Years War and then again during the Wars of Religion. Return to the ship by foot.

Please note that both excursions require at least 25 participants. The order of visits may also change, and good walking shoes are recommended. The guided tour of Honfleur may be conducted in the evening depending on port schedules. If the boat is unable to dock in the Honfleur port, the walking tour will be conducted by coach and is liable for an additional 10.

The other option for today’s excursion (only available to those that book in advance and choose a cruise option without excursions package) is a trip to the beaches used in the Landing at Normandy during World War II. This is a full-day excursion and includes lunch. Arrive at Pointe du Hoc and then travel to Omaha Beach, Colleville-sur-Mer and the American cemetery. After lunch, head to Arromanches and stop at Arromanches 360° to watch a film, The Price of Liberty, that uses archival footage shot by war correspondents in June 1944. Return to Honfleur via Gold Beach, Juno Beach and Sword Beach.

Please note the Landing Beaches excursion requires a minimum of 30 participants and must be pre-booked. The order of visits may change.

Day 6: Honfleur – Rouen (B, L, D) cruise-icon

Continue journeying along the Seine to Rouen this morning. Rouen is the capital of Normandy and is a city sprinkled with Gothic churches, medieval houses and striking monuments. Your excursion today is a guided walking tour of Rouen. Discover the historical centre of the city and its famous cathedral, which are both only a 5-minute walk away from the ship. Rouen is one of Normandy’s cultural, historical and gastronomical centres and is home to the Notre-Dame Cathedral. The cathedral is particularly known for its juxtaposition of Gothic architecture elements. It was also partially destroyed by Allied bombing during World War II. Walk to the marketplace where Joan of Arc was burned alive for heresy in 1431 and see the Great Clock that is a symbol of the city. The final stop on the tour is the Saint Joan of Arc Church, located in the old marketplace. The group returns to the ship by foot in the afternoon, and there is evening entertainment back on the ship.

Please note at least 25 participants are required for this excursion. The order of visits may also change, and good walking shoes are recommended. The tour will operate in the morning or afternoon depending on port schedules. The duration of the walking tour is approximately two hours.

Day 7: Rouen – Les Andelys (B, L, D) cruise-icon

Sit back and soak up the landscape along the Seine as the ship sails towards Les Andelys this morning. This township’s skyline is dominated by the spire of Chateau-Gaillard Castle, built upon the orders of Richard the Lionheart. On your agenda today is a trip to Château de Martainville. To reach the Château, head out with your host or hostess and cross Le Petit Andelys. Pass by St Sauveur Church and drive for approximately 40 minutes, travelling through picturesque villages as you go. Your destination, Château de Martainville, was built in the 15th-century and was transformed into a museum by the French government in 1961. Your time at the chateau is spent learning about the history of rural Normandy and admiring artefacts from different walks of former Norman life. Return from the chateau for tonight’s evening gala aboard the ship. The cruise begins its journey back to Paris.

Please note that both excursions require at least 25 participants. The order of visits may also change, and good walking shoes are recommended. The duration of the excursion is approximately five hours.

Day 8: Paris (B, L, D)

Take your final buffet breakfast on-board this morning and bid adieu to your ship’s crew and fellow passengers. Disembarkation commences at 9am.
