Highlights

Travel to one of the prettiest sections of the mighty Rhine, passing from the Netherlands to Switzerland, on an 10 day Amsterdam to Basel river cruise.

The itinerary begins as soon as embarkation formalities have concluded; with a Captain’s welcome cocktail and dinner. Use this opportunity to begin to meet your fellow passengers and settle into your cabin. Your first morning waking up aboard sees you venture into the heart of Amsterdam on a guided city tour. Among the sights and landmarks you will check off are the Royal Palace and Skinny Bridge. Give your feet a rest by then clambering onto a glass-top boat to cruise along Amsterdam’s famous canals and see more of the city from a watery vantage point. Leave the Netherlands behind as the Monarch Countess sets sails for Cologne, the capital of the Rhineland. A walking tour introduces you to the beauty of this port and there is time to experience its vibrant nightlife scene before the cruise departs for Koblenz. Sail past Lorelei Rock on the way to Mannheim and Speyer, and then make port in Strasbourg. It is in Strasbourg that you will soak up the city’s mix of French and German influences, as well as see its UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed centre.

The final stop on the river cruise is Breisach. This incredible city was restored following the destruction it suffered during World War II. Make sure to have a camera within arms’ reach to photograph the line-up of pastel-coloured houses and geranium-filled window boxes. Wind down with a stop at a local winemaker, and then toast to your magnificent tour experience with a farewell dinner aboard the ship. As well as a host of city and walking tours that are included in your cruise, passengers also have full use of the Monarch Countess’ world-class facilities, such as early-riser breakfasts, late-night snacks, daily entertainment from on-board musicians, fitness centre and a guest lounge.

This route is also available as a Basel to Amsterdam cruise.

Itinerary: Please note, tour itinerary is subject to change without prior notice based upon weather, traffic conditions and other unforeseen occurrences.
While most of the time river cruises operate exactly as planned, weather conditions may result in high or low water levels which impact a ship’s itinerary and, on occasion, render a ship unable to sail at all. On very rare occasions, other events such as heavy fog, a damaged lock, or an incapacitated vessel blocking the river, may impact a sailing. These events typically occur with little or no notice. In the event that a cruise is partially or completely impacted, the itinerary will be operated by deluxe motor coach, accompanied by a Tour Manager, with overnights in hotels. The itinerary will include as many of the originally scheduled sightseeing features as possible, considering the travel time and distances required, as well as meals.
These alternative services will be provided at no additional charge.

Tipping: Whist gratuities for the Tour Manager and a driver are included, if you have enjoyed the service of the cruise staff, a tip (while not compulsory) is appropriate towards the end of your tour. While it may not be customary in Australia, tipping is entrenched into many cultures especially within the tourism industry globally.

Health: This moderately active trip covers a fair amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking every touring day. The pace is moderate, however, you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes.
It remains each passenger’s responsibility to inform Webjet Exclusives of any health or mobility issues that may impact the running of the tour, both for the safety of the passenger concerned and for other travellers in the group.

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all customers purchase Travel Insurance as soon as they make a purchase on our website. Help cover yourself for the unexpected with Webjet Travel Insurance, we highly recommend it. Click here for a quote.

Visas: Visas are not included. It is the traveller’s responsibility to ensure they meet the visa requirements for the country they are visiting. Webjet Exclusives is unable to provide visa advice.

For Visa assistance, please visit Webjet’s Travel Visa Service page

Any deposits paid at the time of purchase are non-refundable.

*Click Frenzy Sale: Enjoy 10% off all tours and resorts world wide, excluding Scandinavia and Canada & Alaska deals departing in 2020, Sea World Resort Holiday package and 9 day Impressions of Japan tour departing in 2020. I.e. the $200 cash back amount applies to a couple who has purchased two tours priced at $2,000 each, and will not be based on their total cart value of $4,000.
