Highlights

The flavours of Vietnamese cuisine are known the world over, and these tastes are yours to savour with a 13 day Flavours of Vietnam food tour.

The culinary expedition begins in Hanoi with a half-day city tour around the Vietnamese capital. Following checking off a handful of Hanoi’s top landmarks, this excursion includes a lunch of bun cha (a dish said to have originated in the city) in a local market. The same day also has you feasting on vegetarian specialities for dinner. Travel away from the city the next morning to take a breakfast of barbecue pork rolls at a family-run restaurant and to learn to make another family’s unique fermented pork cakes while enroute to Ninh Binh. Explore the caves and villages around the Ngo Dong River from aboard a sampan, and then swap one waterway for another when you board an overnight cruise of the UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed Halong Bay. Take in the bay’s limestone islands and dine under that stars with this unforgettable experience. Make the return trip to Hanoi so you can pay a visit to a local ceramic artist and a local wine-maker (tasting included for the latter stop!).

Have a day to explore the emblematic sights and those lining the Perfume River upon arrival in Hue, a former imperial city that is also home to the Thien Mu Pagoda. Move from Hue to Hoi An by traversing the Hai Van Pass, and reach this beautifully preserved town to spend three nights in this gorgeous town. Delight in a mix of organised activities and free time while in Hoi An; join a walking tour around the Old Town area, meander the herb gardens at Tra Que, channel your inner chef with an evening cooking class and dine on the dishes you prepare that night, and uncover some of Hoi An’s best bites on a guided evening outing. Continue south to Ho Chi Minh City, see landmarks around former Saigon from aboard a sightseeing bus, and take to the city at night to experience its world-famous street food scene. The final leg of your tour is an overnight expedition into the Mekong Delta. Discover its twists and turns aboard a private boat cruise, and make stops to local workshops, villages and orchards along the way.

Those looking to kickstart their gastronomic getaway with another cuisine can up their time away to include a 3 night pre-tour stopover in Singapore. Seek out the city-state’s best satay or spend time seeing the sights, all while staying in a luxe 5 star hotel.
