Day 1: Australia – – Auckland
Board your Qantas bound flight to Auckland. Make your way to your hotel and check-in for your one nights’ accommodation ahead of the beginning of your cruise tomorrow.
Day 2: Auckland (D)
Rise this morning to head out to explore the extraordinary sights of Auckland. With so many incredible things to do and see around the city, it’s hard to choose where to begin. For those looking to do a spot of shopping, why not make your way to Queen Street, Britomart or Newmarket? Venture out to admire the beauty of Waiheke and Rangitoto Island, and stop by the stunning gardens of Auckland Domain. For panoramic views of the city, head to Auckland’s Sky Tower to peer out across the cityscape below from a staggering 328 metres high above street level. In the afternoon, head to the port terminal ready for your 6:00pm departure.
Day 3: Bay of Islands (B, L, D)
Wake up to your first morning aboard to find the Celebrity Solstice tendered in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Have breakfast on the ship and then take smaller boats to shore. This region is renowned around the world for its pristine landscape and dazzling scenery – all crystal-clear water, untouched islands and an incredibly diverse ecosystem of wildlife and flora. One of the most popular things for visitors to do in the area is an eco-cruise around the coast and islands. This is a great opportunity to see dolphins, marlin, seals and maybe even a whale if you’re lucky! Keen bird-watchers will revel in the chances to indulge this passion while in the Bay of Islands. Another activity option is to visit caves to see glow worms and rock formations, or you might stick to land-based pursuits with scenic walks and mountain-biking. The Celebrity Solstice is tendered in the Bay of Islands from 8am to 5pm.
Day 4: Tauranga (B, L, D)
Your first port on this epic cruise will be the coastal town of Tauranga. Situated within the Bay of Plenty, this harbourside city is the largest within the region. Set out to taste the delicious local gourmet produce at one of the town’s many restaurants and cafes. A place well-known for its white-sand beaches and spectacular coves, be sure to head out and explore its natural wonders including the breath-taking Kaitate Falls and Mount Maunganui.
Day 5: At Sea (B, L, D)
Today’s your first full day at sea. The award-winning Celebrity Solstice has all your entertainment needs covered whilst on-board. From an array of delicious restaurants, cafes and bars, to the wellness spa and lawn club, you’re sure to find something that sparks your interest as so you sail towards your next incredible destination.
Day 6: Wellington (B, L, D)
Wake this morning to the site of beautiful Wellington. The day is yours to set out and discover all this city has to offer. Make your way to the top of Mount Victoria to admire the picturesque views of the city below, or take a visit to see the animals of Wellington Zoo. For those look to indulge in some delicious food, be sure to stop by Hannah’s Laneway in the heart of the city, a place filled with all your gourmet food needs.
Day 7: Akaroa (B, L, D)
Move from the North Island to the South, to arrive in the french-influenced town of Akaroa. Located on the Banks Peninsula and just over an hours drive from the city of Christchurch, it’s a place filled with an abundance of natural beauty. Keep a lookout for the rare Hector’s Dolphins that frequently pass through this town, the smallest species of dolphins in the world. Why not head out on a cruise around the harbour, or explore the landscapes of Akaroa with a walk around Banks Track?
Day 8: Dunedin (B, L, D)
Today see’s you explore the town of Dunedin, a place filled with a rich Scottish and Maori heritage. With picture-perfect landscapes, and lush-rolling hills, the beauty of this coastal city is simply spectacular. Stop by Larnarch Castle, New Zealand’s only castle built in 1871, and spend time wandering through it’s perfectly manicured gardens and grand Victorian architecture. Those looking to get up close with the local wildlife can head to the Royal Albatross Centre, where you’ll have the opportunity to see the only mainland breeding colony of these native birds.
Day 9: Dusky Sound – Doubtful Sound – Milford Sound (B, L, D)
Have your cameras ready to capture the awe-inspiring beauty of some of New Zealand’s most extraordinary fjords. First on the list is Dusky Sound, the largest of the three fjords you’ll see today. It’s then on to Doubtful Sound, a unique region with a dual-layered marine ecosystem of fresh and saltwater, and home to an abundance of native wildlife including the fiordland crested and blue penguins. Your last stop is arguably the most iconic of the three fjords, Milford Sound. Part of the Wahipounamu World Heritage Site, this region has been made famous by its rugged and towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, lush rainforest.
Day 10: At Sea (B, L, D)
Set course for Australia as you spend the next 2 days at sea. Make the most of the facilities on-board, lazing by the pool, sipping on a cocktail at one of the many bars, or seeing a show at the theatre.
Day 11: At Sea (B, L, D)
Today is yours to do as little or as much as your like. Be sure to take advantage of all that the award-winning Celebrity Solstice has to offer.
Day 12: Hobart (B, L, D)
The Celebrity Solstice makes its first port in Hobart, the capital of Tasmania. This charming city, though small, is jam-packed with heritage attractions, acclaimed restaurants, pretty parks and a gorgeous waterfront district. The ship is docked from 8am until 5pm. Take a walk through the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, or move between exhibits and works inside the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. One of the most popular things to do in Hobart is a visit to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This ground-breaking museum is actually a private collection and is renowned for its controversial pieces. Other things to do in Hobart include a trip to the historic Cascade Brewery, a walk along the Battery Point Sculpture Trail, or an outing to the summit of nearby Mount Wellington.
Day 13: At Sea (B, L, D)
Today is your last full day on-board the cruise. Be sure to check out an of the incredible restaurants, facilities or activities on-board you may not have gotten around to yet.
Day 14: Sydney (B)
Sail into Sydney at 6.30am this morning. Enjoy one last breakfast on-board before disembarking. You are then free to move about Sydney ahead of your own travel arrangements for returning home.
