Begin your journey with your international flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival at the Chengdu International Airport you will be greeted by your tour guide and transferred to your hotel. The remaining time of the day is free for your individual activities.

Day 2: Chengdu –train-icon– Yichang (B,D)

Today you will be transferred from Chengdu to Yichang by train. Upon arrival, you will board the Yangtze River Cruise ship and begin your memorable 4-night cruise down the Yangtze River.

Day 3: Yangtze River Cruise (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Your first day on the Yangtze River will begin with a beautiful buffet breakfast before setting out on your first optional shore excursion to the Three Gorges Project. The Three Gorges Dam Site is one of the largest construction projects undertaken by mankind and is the biggest hydropower project in the world. You may also choose to visit the Tribe of the Three Gorges, the only large scenic spot that has not be influenced by the Three Gorges Dam project, which showcases the abundant Ba Culture and Shu Culture. In the evening, you will return to the ship and attend the Captain’s Welcome Banquet and enjoy the evening of dancing..

Day 4:  Yangtze River Cruise (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Today you may choose to enjoy an optional shore excursion to the mesmerizing Shennong Stream. The stream flows through 3 beautiful gorges including the Mianzhu Gorge, Parrot Gorge and Longcangdong Gorge. Each gorge is renowned for its unique and stunning scenery. The Shennong Stream is also home to the Hanging Coffins – which are ancient coffins containing the remains of descendents of the Tujia people. Another excursion choice for today is to visit the White Emperor City. It’s an ancient temple that is located a top Baidi Mountain on the northern bank of the Yangtze River in Fengjie County. In the afternoon you will return to the ship in time for lunch and enjoy the crew’s performance in the evening.

Day 5: Yangtze River Cruise (B,L,D) cruise-icon

Today is a scheduled optional shore excursion to the legendary Shibaozhai. The site has a history of over 400 years when it was built into the side of a 200-meter-tall hill. The striking 9 story red pagoda was built in 1819 to make it easier for people to reach the Buddhist temple at the very top of the hill. Also, you may choose to attend an excursion of visiting the Fengdu Ghost City which is also known as the “City of Ghosts”. You will see the temples built on Ming Mountain depict the punish instruments and demon paintings, demonstrating the Chinese people’s imagination of hell. In the evening you will enjoy the Farewell Dinner and pack your bags in preparation to disembark the cruise tomorrow.

Today you will explore the ancient wonders of Xi’an. For a period of more than 1,000 years, Xi’an served as China’s capital city and remains home to a great number of precious relics and historical sites. Your tour today will include a visit to the Terracotta Warriors and the lively Moslem Street. The Terracotta Warriors Site is considered the eighth wonder of the world and was discovered by accident in 1974. You will see the army of over 7,000 soldiers, archers, horses and chariots that has guarded Emperor Qin’s tomb since 210BC. Each figure is unique and the painstaking repair and evacuation continues to this day. After lunch, you will walk through the famous Moslem Street, where many souvenirs and delicious local snacks can be sampled.

Day 8: Xi’an –airplane-takeoff– Australia (B,L)

 Today you will begin with a visit to the Wild Goose Pagoda. The temple was originally used by a large team of scholars to translate the Buddhism Scriptures into Chinese and subsequently became a holy place for pilgrims. You will then continue on to the Provincial Museum, which documents China’s archaeological finds which date as far back as the Neolithic Age (20,000 years ago). Your next visit will be to the Ancient City Wall, which was built in 194 BC and is the oldest and best preserved ancient city wall in all of China. You will then be transferred to Chengdu for your flight back home.

Day 10:  Beijing (B)

After enjoying your breakfast at hotel, you will visit to Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City todiscover Beijing’s imperial treasures. Stand in Tiananmen Square, one of the largest and grandest public plazas in the world before progressing on to the Forbidden City. Enter the imposing walls of the Forbidden City, once the exclusive domain of the Ming Dynasty, for an exclusive tour through this vast complex of courtyards and lanes.

Optional Tour: Hutong Tour – Take a rickshaw tour of the traditional Hutong areas famous for the old-style buildings, and time-honoured workshops. Enjoy a meal with a local family before retiring to your hotel for the evening.

Day 11: Beijing (B,L)

 Travel into the rugged mountain landscapes north of the city to the magnificent Great Wall of China. Once on top of this ancient defensive structure, you’ll find that some sections are quite steep, but the views are magnificent and the experience is truly unforgettable. You will then learn about Jade, China’s most precious and celebrated stone, and its manufacturing process at the largest Jade factory in Beijing. Later, visit the 2008 Olympic Games Sites including the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube.

After your day of exploring, experience the oriental foot massage at a traditional Chinese medical centre where you will learn about alternative treatments for illness and have the chance to consult a Chinese Medical professional.

Day 12: Beijing (B)

In the morning, you will practice Tai Chi in the Temple of Heaven. Tai Chi is an internal martial art system which places emphasis on the development and control of Chi (consciousness) energy within the body. The Temple of Heaven a sprawling complex of religious buildings located in the south-eastern section of central Beijing. The site was constructed by the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties who would host annual ceremonies of prayer for good harvest here. Afterwards, visit the Silk Factory Outlet to learn about silk, the very trade item which started the famous Silk Road, and its delicate manufacturing process.

Optional tour: Visit the Summer Palace, the largest royal park in China that looks over the stunning Kunming lake and for hundreds of years, the summer residence of Chinese royalty and their families. Today it is a UNESCO world heritage site and a sacred retreat for locals and tourists.

Day 13: Beijing –airplane-takeoff– Australia

Today you will be transferred to airport to take your flight back home.

  • After booking your travel and paying the deposit, you may change your travel date subject to the following terms.
  • Changes can only be made up until 240 days prior to travel or final payment, whichever is earlier. After this point, your booking becomes non-changeable and remains strictly non-refundable.

Flight Information

 

Airline: 

  • Return economy airfare with China Eastern (China Southern, Air China or similar)
  • We are unable to guarantee which airline you will travel with as flights will be booked subject to promotional fare availability for your travel dates. Including minimum 20kg of checked baggage per passenger (actual limit is subject to airline).
  • Customers wishing to choose their preferred airline – please purchase your voucher first and request your preferred airline in the ‘special requests’ field when submitting your booking form. Please note, this is a request basis only.
  • One return airfare is supplied per voucher
  • Names cannot be changed once flights have been booked. Once we receive your form and your dates are available, your booking will be completed – no further changes will be possible.
  • The airfare remains non-refundable at all times.

 Flights:

  • Some flights may depart a day before/after, involve up to 2 transits, stopover or a substitute airline. These changes are beyond our control and will be confirmed upon booking.
  • Once your flights are confirmed and ticketed, flights are non-refundable and non-changeable. Full names (First, Middle & Surname) as per passport must be provided for ticketing.
  • Please Note, flight itineraries will not be provided until 30 days prior to departure. If your travel dates are within 30 days of purchase you will be provided with your itinerary within 7 days.

Flight Variations: 

 If you wish to modify the promotional airfare included in your Webjet Exclusives package, the following Flight Variations can be requested:

  • Early arrival
  • Late departure
  • Upgrade to Premium Economy or Business Class where available
  • Airline of your choice where available

A $200 per person “breakaway” charge will apply per person plus any applicable fare and tax difference.

In order to obtain a quote for your requested variations, you must purchase your vouchers first and submit your request via the online booking form. On this form will be a section highlighted “Flight Quote Request”. You must complete the mandatory information in this section to be provided with an accurate quote.

PLEASE NOTE: No flight requests/quotes/upgrades will be actioned until your 2nd payment instalment has been made. At this time you will be contact by our operator in relation to your request. Payment of the breakaway fee and any applicable fare and tax difference is to be paid directly to our operator at the time of quotation.

Once flights have been confirmed and ticketed, any voluntary changes made thereafter will incur a change fee plus any fare and tax difference.

Stay behind surcharge:

  • If you wish to extend your trip, a $200 per person breakaway charge will apply (subject to availability and applicable fare difference). Your stay behind request must be submitted when completing your booking form. Only the return date can be altered. PLEASE NOTE: No staybehind will be actioned until your 2nd payment instalment is made.

Extending your trip: 

  • If you wish to alter or extend your trip, please purchase your voucher first and submit a request on your booking form. Webjet Exclusives will then provide quotations for any alterations or extensions. Should you wish to proceed any additional charges will be collected. However if you are unhappy with the options a full refund of the voucher will be provided. PLEASE NOTE: No extension request will be actioned until your 2nd payment instalment is made.
